Manchester United have a striker scarcity, with Marcus Rashford being considered as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe at PSG. Rashford’s future is becoming more uncertain as he enters his final year of his agreement. And they are looking at the players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial as possible substitutes .
In the summer transfer window, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford will contemplate his future. Sources say Rashford has not made any decisions yet and is just keen on getting his top form in order to win back his position at Old Trafford.
Rashford has not started a Premier League match since losing to Southampton on February 12. However, it is far from clear that he will sign a new contract with United. They did not want to lose him on a free transfer.
Rashford performance monitored by PSG
Mauricio Pochettino, who is on the shortlist to succeed Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United, will replace him before next season. Rashford’s future depends on United’s next manager. PSG is keeping close eyes on Rashford a possible replacement for Mbappe. Mbappe is nearing the end of his contract with the club. PSG explored the possibility of signing Rashford last summer, but United did not intend to let him leave. Rashford could also be persuaded to commit his future to the club should Pochettino replace Rangnick.
Ronaldo’s future is also in question following the Manchester derby loss. There is every chance that Pochettino will go after Rashford if he is appointed as the manager. Ronaldo’s sister Katia Aveiro shared a post on social media claiming Rangnick wanted him to play more defensively against City. So he had been left out. Ronaldo instigated the narrative by flying to Portugal to begin his recovery.
It will be difficult for Ronaldo to find a top club who will match him on £500,000-a-week salary. Cavani was also absent at the Etihad. Rangenick indicated on Friday he was ready to return to action after a month out with groin injury. After his loan move in January, it is believed that Martial has no interest in staying at Sevilla. Cavani has made just seven starts this season. Moreover, Cavani is keen on a move to Spain. Despite being under contract until 2025, the Frenchman would hope to leave Old Trafford permanently. But United may not allow him to leave. Since they are unwilling to lose another striker.
