David Ornstein remarks on the United’s job

Man United Harry Kane

Premier League journalist David Ornstein said today that Manchester United will announce their new manager by the end of this month. Ralf Rangnick is in charge. After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked earlier in the season. He has previously taken on the role interspersed with brief caretaking roles from Michael Carrick.

In terms of planning for the future, the temporary nature of the appointment is causing some difficulties for the club. The club has stalled on making transfers. Signing contracts are also on hold. Until the announcement of the next manager. Ultimately, United’s board decided to expedite the announcement of the new manager, even though the new manager will not actually assume the post until the end of the season.

Manchester United are trying to wrap up their managerial process as soon as possible,’ David Ornstein told Sky Sports. ‘They want to do it in the coming weeks, ideally by the end of March. That’s why they were speeding up the process.

Meeting candidates and narrowing down their shortlist is taking place at Manchester United. And their aim is to have a chosen candidate in place as soon as possible. This will allow the next manager to be a part of that decision-making process when it comes to building a squad for the 2022-23 season and beyond, as well as the 2022-23 transfer window . Which will be crucial to how they do business in terms of signings and offloading.

David Ornstein ideal candidates for the job

The key candidates appear to be Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag, in no respective order. However, David Ornstein has speculated that other candidates could benefit too, including Julien Lopetegui and Luis Enrique. However, he added that he would be surprised if the job went to anyone other than Ten Hag or Pochettino.

David Ornstein added that “it depends who you listen to,”. Higher-ups are believed to favor the Dutchman for the role. Sir Alex Ferguson and players are said to prefer the Argentinian. Ornstein’s comments are much of the same as when he last updated about the Manchester United situation. But the expected timeline may surprise many.

Ten Hag has better chances of winning the job than Pochettino if Ornstein is right that United will announce its new manager in 11 days. There is a possibility that PSG will dismiss Pochettino after the season, but it seems unlikely to happen earlier. At this point, United would have to pay PSG a large fee to release their current head coach. Meanwhile, acquiring Ten Hag would not cost much.
