Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today writes that Bruno Fernandes is close to signing a new contract with Manchester United. Which will extend his contract until 2027. Amid reports, the player is close to renewing his contract.
O Jogo reports that Fernandes will now make between €14 million to €15 million per season. This is due to frequent and increased communication and a good relationship between the Manchester United board and his agent.
The salary is similar to Paul Pogba, though it’s far from Cristiano Ronaldo’s $20m a year. After his £68million transfer was agreed, Fernandes was not one of United’s top earners as his contract. The player was worth around $100k a week. Meanwhile, O Jogo claims the midfielder ‘continues to believe that the Red Devils are soon going to be battling for big things. He is confident in the club. As a result, Man United intends to make Bruno Fernandes ‘a reference at the club’.
Therefore, he is accepting the extension. Manchester United signed Bruno Fernandes on a €63m deal in January 2020. It is reported by O Jojo that he is nearing signing a five-year extension that will last until 2027. And he will earn a comparable salary to Paul Pogba, as O Jojo claims. He is close to signing a five-year extension that will run until 2027.
Bruno Fernandes ‘ A reference at the club ‘ for Manchester United
This would imply that Fernandes would earn just over £12 million annually. This will be a substantial increase over his starting salary at Old Trafford. Although his contract is set to expire in 2022, it is widely expected that he will stay on.
United have been in regular contact with Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, over the contract. The talks are ‘intensifying’ in recent weeks, according to the same outlet. As they prepare to challenge for the biggest trophies again. The club is also believed to be looking to make the 27-year-old a ‘reference’ ahead of next season.
Despite this, however, Fernandes is said to remain fully committed to the project despite falling short in several semifinals since joining United. United’s main man has had an up and down season. Fernandes’ poor form has even led coach Ralf Rangnick to bench him on occasion. So far this season, Fernandes has scored nine goals and recorded 14 assists.
